"Death of a Salesman" is a very
confusing movie for us. It is all about the frustrated dream of one
man, who expects to much from all its relatives. I cannot exactly relate to this
movie because I think the relationship between a father and a son is
completeley different than the one with a daugther. In our family we are just
girls, and our father is a really caring and humble man, he barely screams or gets angry. Our relationship with
him is completely different that the father-son relationship that is shown in
the movie. Yes, my parents want us to be succesful in the future, but we do not
live under a constant pressure to achieve it.
Furthermore, there is a high content of mixed feelings throughout the movie; Willie, the protagonist suffers from serious problems of hallucination. Again, this is something I cannot relate to at all, nobody in my family suffers from that type of disease, neither do I. On the other hand, I can correlate to the worried and caring attitude of both of the kids; they are always trying to create the best environment possible for their father. This is clearly something that almost every son or daughter in the world has in common: the love for his/her parents. As our parents want the best for us, also do we. Personally I think that if a person loves you and really cares for you, the love will be mutual, and this is also shown in the movie.
“I believe that what we become depends on what our fathers teach us at odd moments, when they aren't trying to teach us. We are formed by little scraps of wisdom.”
